On 18th of February, at EBA initiative, the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure organized a technical meeting aiming to consolidate the Cross Border cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Romania in the context of Romanian Presidency at the Council of the EU. In this respect, EBA proposed to launch an open dialogue between representatives of the Moldovan and Romanian authorities in order to address the deficiencies faced by the private sector in their activities related to the import / export procedures at the border crossing points between the two sides. The main issues identified are related to the nonrecognition by EU of the AEO status offered by the RM and the creation of queues at the Romanian border, thus finally generating delays of contracts (just-on-time contracts) implying additional financial costs incurred by the private sector.
