BRIEFING on DCFTA II, phase II Project Implemented by the Chamber of Trade and Industry of Moldova and EBA Moldova

The project is funded by the Swedish Government through IFC (a branch of the World Bank) and is effective from February to June 2015.

On February 24th The Chamber of Trade and Industry of Moldova jointly with EBA Moldova have launched the DCFTA II Project, Phase II focused on preparing and assisting the exporters of textile and apparel industry, food processing, agro-products from the whole territory of the RM to export their goods onto the EU market.

The Project will cover the following activities:

1. Strengthen the sector committees of the Chamber of Trade and Industry and EBA aimed at improving the business climate by harmonizing the legal framework to make it more enabling for export and business environment in general. Once the new Government is invested, it's very important to promote and lobby the simplification and EU harmonization of the pending regulations and procedures impeding foreign trade, especially for textiles, fresh agro products and food staffs onto the EU Market.

2. Prepare, assist and train the exporters of textile and apparels, food processors, agro-producers, plastic, spare parts and other industries in such areas as:

  • DCFTA related issues and the concrete actions to be implemented over 2015 by the Ministry of Economy, Customs, ANSA, etc
  • Negotiation techniques
  • International Contractual issues and financial matters
  • Marketing and promotion techniques
  • EU Market access issues and rules
  • Fito-sanitary requirements in the RM
  • Export related procedures
  • International certification

3. As a result of the trainings, the exporters will have the possibility to participate in matchmaking events organized in such EU Countries as Romania, Baltic countries, Italy, (maybe) Germany - tbc.

4. Over the duration of the project the exporters will have the opportunity to be provided with foreign consultancy support sharing the best worldwide expertise and practices through Chamber of Trade and Industry and EBA targeted on concrete partners finding and necessary pre-export skills and info.

5. All the activities of the project will be widely communicated through specialized TV Programs, web portals, written press etc.
