Further discussions on environmental payments for pollution

On May 2, following the meeting with the State Fiscal Service on the issue of calculating the environmental payments for pollution, a new meeting took place between EBA members, and the State Fiscal Service and State Environmental Inspectorate. The meeting was organised with the support of the Economic Council to the Prime Minister working group on Trade Facilitation, presided by EBA.

Efficient implementation of the Trade Facilitation Agreement

During 5-7 April, EBA engaged in a series of workshops concerning the implementation of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) Trade Facilitation Agreement with the participation of governmental and private sector representatives, organized by the World Bank Group in Moldova. The talks were initiated under the National Committee for Trade Facilitation, whose function has been assigned to the Economic Council to the Prime Minister.

On April 6, a joint EBA/FIA/AmCham business breakfast with the Governor of the National Bank took place. The discussion were focused on the actions that have been done until now by the new governance team, and their future objectives.

Revealing the Business Issues of 2016

On April 6, EBA has presented its annual Business Issues Briefs document, in which key business environment issues affecting private sector development were described. The document was developed by EBA, in cooperation with the EU funded Technical Assistance DCFTA Project.

Revision of the Tax Code and Customs Code

On April 6, EBA participated at the public consultations on the Redrafting concept of the Tax Code and Customs Code. The event was organised by the Ministry of Finance and chaired by the Deputy Minister of Finance, Iurii Cicibaba, and the Head of the General Directorate for Policy and Legislation, Rodica Braguta.

Talks on environmental payments for pollution

On April 5, EBA requested a meeting with the management team of the State Fiscal Service, in order to discuss the issues related to calculation of the environmental payment for pollution and its reporting. The meeting with the association’s members was assisted by Serghei Puscuta, Chief of the State Fiscal Service, Iuri Lichii, Deputy Chief of the State Fiscal Service, Igor Lazar, Head of the General Directorate for Duties and Taxes Methodology and Igor Stavinschi, Deputy Head of the General Directorate for Duties and Taxes Methodology.

Sharing the EBA experience across borders

In the period 3-5 April, in the context of the East Invest 2 Project and the Public Private Dialogue Network, EBA Executive Director Mariana Rufa participated in the practical workshops organised for the business support organisations (BSOs) in Georgia.
