“Producers that own international certification are more credible for a potential partner from EU” declared the executive director of the European Business Association (EBA Moldova), Mariana Rufa, on Tuesday, at the conference “Improved food safety: creating opportunities for business.”
According to the Infotag agency, Mariana Rufa specified that “in the context of merchandise access on the EU market, quality standards and everything related to the process of management, process of production, which is eventually confirming the quality of the product, is actually a passport for the product of RM.”
“That producer who is holding an international certificate becomes more credible for a partner from EU. We hope that economic agents will collect the necessary information and will apply to those companies for obtaining international certificates” mentioned Mrs. Rufa.
According to her words “economic agents from Moldova are free to choose their certification company. In RM there are present several international companies of this kind, where economic agents can submit their documents. As example can serve the SGS certification company from Switzerland that is issuing the GlobalGAP certificate in the domain of agriculture.”
“The procedure of issuing the international certificate can last up to 3 years. The economic agent must satisfy all the necessary conditions, like improving the management, improving the production process etc. In its turn the company fulfills a series of measures, like checking the soil, checking the seedlings planted, the irrigation mode used” specified mrs. Rufa.
The regional manager for EU and Republic of Moldova from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Ana-MariaMihăescu, mentioned that the „exports of Republic of Moldova to EU have increased considerably during this year, and that the investment climate in RM has its basics well formed.”
“In RM and in the regions, IFC is known for its investments in agriculture, a sector which we consider of prior importance for the perspectives of economic growth in RM, where agricultures’ share in the countries GDP is over 20%. Through this seminar and through activities of this kind we want to improve the investment climate and to support the agriculture in RM, in order for it to become a sustainable one and with a higher access on the European markets and other international markets” mentioned Mihăescu.
