Romanian International Energy Conference (RIEC) 2025, 7th Edition, organized by the Energy Employers’ Federation (FPE) and held under the high patronage of the Ministry of Energy of Romania, under the title “The New Energy Fabric | Threads of Innovation & Stability.”

The European Business Association Moldova, represented by Eugen Cozmulici, Policy and Advocacy Manager, participated in PANEL IV “The Energy Fabric: Cross-Border Cooperation and Integration,” alongside the distinguished speakers:
- István-Loránt Antal – Chair of the Committee on Energy, Energy Infrastructure, and Mineral Resources of the Romanian Senate
- Leszek Wiwała – Director General, Polish Organization for Oil Industry and Trade
- Svetoslav Benchev – President, Bulgarian Oil and Gas Association.

This panel focused on the essential role of regional cooperation in strengthening energy security in Central and Southeastern Europe, and how interconnections, cross-border projects, and the alignment of energy policies can reduce national vulnerabilities and strengthen the resilience of the region’s energy systems, as well as regional partnerships, the development of shared infrastructure, and the mechanisms through which countries can jointly address current and future energy challenges, including prospects for the coming period.

The European Business Association Moldova reiterated the key aspects for ensuring energy security and integration into the European energy market:
- the importance of diversifying gas and energy supply sources
- the need to implement cross-border projects
- accelerating the Moldova–Romania interconnectors: Bălți–Suceava and Strășeni–Gutinaș
- modernizing transmission networks
- increasing electricity import and export capacity
- developing energy storage capacities
- cybersecurity.

The goal is to transform the Republic of Moldova into a regional energy hub that is interconnected and fully integrated into the European market, capable of benefiting from security, competitive prices, and massive investments in clean energy.
P.S.: Interconnections, cross-border projects, and the alignment of energy policies can reduce national vulnerabilities and strengthen the resilience of energy systems in the region.

We thank the Romanian Energy Employers’ Federation and Mr. Daniel Apostol, Director General, for the invitation to these vital debates for the countries in the region, and we commend the team for organizing this event.

We remain committed to making the necessary efforts toward the common goal of cross-border integration.
