On 22nd of September 2017, EBA organized a business breakfast for its members, who were engaged in a constructive dialogue with Mr. Octavian Calmic, Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, in the context of the latest Government Structure Reform. The dialogue was focused on the actual problems that the companies are facing and also on the priorities for this year of the Minister of Economy and Infrastructure. The event was moderated by Thomas Moser, EBA President and Mariana Rufa, EBA Executive Director.
The discussion was around the main issues and regulations from different sectors, such as: tax policy, regulatory reform, energy, and also the new sectors that the minister took over as a result of the Government Structure Reform: ICT, constructions, transport. Along the priorities was mentioned the completion of the reorganization of control functions, simplification of the fiscal reports and having transparency within the inspection of the economic agent. Regarding the construction sector, the focus will be on modernization of the old methods by taking over the European standards. On ICT, it is planned to develop a virtual IT park with favorable tax treatment.
As the discussion went on, the members had the chance to give direct questions to Mr. Calmic, in particular on trade law, proposals to tax policy, increase of some export quotas for EU, requesting support from the ministry in promoting the necessary legislations for a systematic waste management, as well as on the latest development in energy sector.
