EBA participated in the 2026 Energy Strategy Summit

EBA Moldova, represented by Mariana Rufa, CEO, participated in the Energy Strategy Summit 2026, held in Bucharest.

In her intervention, Mariana Rufa highlighted the significant progress made by the Republic of Moldova, as well as the essential role of political leadership in implementing the reforms and actions provided for in the Growth Plan, especially in the field of energy and natural gas.

Important transformations achieved in recent years were highlighted, including:
- liberalization of the natural gas market;
- diversification of supply sources and routes from the European Union, including from Romania;
- the active presence of BRM EST Moldova and its essential role in ensuring a transparent gas procurement process;
- Energocom's contribution to managing the energy crisis in the initial stage.

Regarding the electricity market, the following were highlighted:
- progressive alignment of the regulatory framework with the European acquis;
- accelerated development of the renewable energy sector;
- supporting investments in energy storage and balancing capacities;
- increased interest of investors in the energy sector of the Republic of Moldova.

At the same time, the need was highlighted:
- maintaining a healthy and predictable competitive environment;
- continuous development of energy infrastructure and interconnections with the European Union;
- prioritizing investments in cybersecurity of the energy sector;
- effective implementation of the CBAM mechanism and adjustment of the regulatory framework in the context of the accession process of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union.

EBA Moldova's participation in this summit reconfirms the commitment of the business community to support reforms, strengthen energy security and accelerate the European integration of the Republic of Moldova.
