EBA participated at the “Launch of the 2026 Women’s Entrepreneurship and Leadership Index”

Ms. Carolina Bugaian, President of the European Business Association and CEO of Moldcell, along with Ms. Stela Recean, Vice President of maib and Member of the EBA Board, are participating in the “Launch of the 2026 Women’s Entrepreneurship and Leadership Index” at the Digital Innovation Summit in Bucharest.
Both women reiterated that supporting women in the economy is a key priority in the context of sustainable economic development.

It is also important to invest in education, skills development, and the promotion of innovative approaches to empowering women in business, as these form the foundation of sustainable economic development.

The Republic of Moldova is developing women’s entrepreneurship across multiple sectors, a process supported not only by European funds but also by a financial ecosystem dedicated to women launching their own businesses. This phenomenon is contributing to significant transformations in the business environment’s development model.

During the presentation of the Women’s Entrepreneurship Index in the Republic of Moldova, key findings regarding the role of women in the business environment were highlighted: 3 out of 10 businesses are led by women, and 4 out of 10 are founded by women, with most operating in the services and trade sectors.

At the same time, the analysis highlights key directions for the development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem: strengthening digital skills, focusing on productive and technological sectors, facilitating access to financing, and expanding support services for women entrepreneurs.
