Ms. Carolina Bugaian, President of the European Business Association and CEO of Moldcell, together with Ms. Stela Recean, Vice President of MAIB and Member of the EBA Board, participate in the “Launch of the 2026 Women’s Entrepreneurship and Leadership Index” at the Digital Innovation Summit, held in Bucharest.
Both ladies reiterated that supporting women in the economy is an essential priority in the context of sustainable economic development.
It is also important to invest in education, skills development and the promotion of innovative approaches in the process of empowering women in business, as these represent the basis of sustainable economic development.
The Republic of Moldova is developing female entrepreneurship in multiple areas, a process supported, including through European funds, but also through a financial ecosystem dedicated to women who launch their own businesses. This phenomenon contributes to important transformations in the development model of the business environment.
During the presentation of the Women's Entrepreneurship Index in the Republic of Moldova, relevant conclusions were highlighted regarding the role of women in the business environment: 3 out of 10 businesses are led by women, and 4 out of 10 are founded by women, most of them operating in the services and trade sectors.
At the same time, the analysis highlights the essential directions for the development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem: strengthening digital skills, focusing on productive and technological sectors, facilitating access to financing, as well as expanding support services for female entrepreneurs.
