EBA Moldova continues the dialogue with the Ministry of Finance of the RM on the accounting, financial reporting and audit agenda

During the working sessions held on 10.08.2026 and 13.08.2026, the accounting community of EBA Moldova actively participated in the consultations organized by the Ministry of Finance on draft normative acts in the field of accounting, financial reporting and auditing.

EBA was represented by Diana Ilicciev, Chair of the EBA Committee for Taxation and Customs and Chief Accountant at Victoriabank, as well as Constantin Agafița, Co-Chair of the EBA Committee and Audit Manager at Baker Tilly Klitou and Partners. At the same time, Mr. Agafița is a member of the Accounting and Financial Reporting Council under the Ministry of Finance, which ensures a direct contribution of the business environment's expertise in the process of finalizing the regulatory framework.

The consultations aimed at amending the Law on Accounting and Financial Reporting no. 287/2017, adjusting the National Accounting Standards and the General Chart of Accounts, as well as amending Law no. 271/2017 on the audit of financial statements.

One of the main proposed amendments aims to increase the thresholds for classifying entities and groups, in order to align with Delegated Directive (EU) 2023/2775 and reduce the administrative burden for businesses. Thus, for micro entities, thresholds of 8.5 million lei for assets and 17 million lei for sales revenue are proposed, for small entities – 95 million lei and 190 million lei, and for medium/large entities – 480 million lei and 960 million lei.

The application of the new criteria is foreseen starting with 1 January 2027, and the intended effect is that a larger number of companies will be able to prepare simplified or abbreviated financial statements, thus reducing the costs and administrative burden related to reporting and, for some entities, the mandatory audit.

EBA Moldova will continue to promote the position of the business community and contribute with practical expertise to the finalization of a clear, proportionate and aligned European accounting and financial reporting framework.
