On 17th of October, EBA participated in a meeting, organised by the Customs Service, focused on issues faced by exporters of horticultural products onto the EU market.
Olesea Ghedrovici, EBA Finance & Tax Advisor, expressed the need to reduce the permissive acts when obtaining certificates of origin. She has also made a reference to an EBA analysis developed in 2013, where EBA jointly with the Ministry of Finance, the Tax Authority and the Customs Service have agreed to reduce a number of permissive acts for obtaining certificates of origin.
EBA supports the initiative of the Customs Service of making this procedure compliant with the best international experience and standards in area of certificates of origin. Nevertheless, this procedure should not create additional burdens and abusive situations for the exporters onto the EU market. The Customs Service expressed openness and support in meeting the requests of the private sector by keeping the procedure transparent, compliant to EU standards and regulations, and by being supportive in facilitating foreign trade.
