Brussels Policy Visit – The second day of the visit to Brussels featured a packed agenda of meetings, including a discussion with Mr. Siegfried Mureșan, President of the European Parliament Delegation for relations with the Republic of Moldova and the country’s most active supporter. Mr. Mureșan reiterated that Moldova’s top priority at this stage is the implementation of the Reform Agenda—a package of reforms and investments aimed at developing the country and bringing it into the European family. For this process, the EU will allocate €1.9 billion.
The agenda also included a meeting with representatives of DG TAXUD to discuss policy priorities related to the Transit System, which Moldova will soon join, provided all requirements are met. The discussion also covered topics related to improving infrastructure at the Moldova-EU border—an imperative step for trade facilitation.
A joint meeting with representatives from DG ENER, DG AGRI, and DG TRADE allowed for an exchange of views on business policy priorities within Moldova's EU integration agenda, including those that are critical in light of the Reform Agenda.
The day concluded with a meeting with H.E. Daniela Morari, Head of Moldova’s Mission to the EU. Mrs. Morari provided a detailed overview of the Reform Agenda structure, the financing allocation mechanisms, and emphasized the need for close and prompt communication between the business community and relevant institutions. She also underlined the importance of engaging in the identification of investment projects—all of which represent a unique opportunity to support Moldova’s development through concrete reform initiatives and investments.
The delegation is composed of representatives from the Secretariat of the Economic Council to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, members of business associations such as Moldova Fruct Association, the National Federation of Farmers, "Agro Oguz" Association, economic journalists, representatives from EBA Moldova and Helvetas Moldova, the Head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Office in Moldova, representatives of the EU Delegation to Chișinău, and the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization.
The main purpose of the visit is to promote and support the European integration path of the Republic of Moldova, with a strong focus on the concrete implementation of the Growth Plan. In this context, the visit aims to advance reforms in key sectors and foster sustainable economic development based on increasing added value in the real economy.
The visit was organized by EBA, with financial support from Helvetas Moldova through the OPTIM Project and the AJE Program – the Economic Journalism Academy.
