EBA Moldova visiting Südzucker Moldova.
The EBA team visited the German company Sudzucker Moldova, one of the leaders of the sugar production industry in the country. Sudzucker Moldova is part of the German group Südzucker AG - the largest sugar producer in Europe. The company has been active in the Republic of Moldova since 2001 and has invested about 100 million euros in modernization of technologies and development of high-performance agriculture, employing about 500 people.
At the same time, the company has been certified according to international standards ISO 9001:2008 and НАСССР. In 2015-2017, Südzucker Moldova implemented the largest "Green Energy" project in Moldova, in which it invested more than 14 million euros.
During the discussions with the company's leadership, the priority topics for the entire industry were addressed, namely:
- The importance and potential of developing and promoting the sugar beet production industry in Moldova, so as to catalyze production and exports to the EU market;
- Increasing the competitiveness of the RM in the light of access to the common market.
The visits are part of the EBA's commitment to ensure a continuous connection with its members to better understand the challenges and identify opportunities for business development in Moldova, including in the European path of the RM.
