Considering the significant importance of the agrifood-sector for the overall development of the economy of Republic of Moldova, combined with the excellent opportunities offered by the European Union in this regard, an economic mission from Republic of Moldova, organized by the European Business Association (EBA Moldova) in collaboration with Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the support of the Agency of International Cooperation and support of Germany (GIZ) has made a working visit in Romania during 2nd-4th of February.
The agenda of the delegation comprised meetings at the highest level with well-known companies form Western Romania, during which have been launched concrete discussions oriented for the export of agricultural production (fresh and processed fruits and vegetables) to the supermarket chains, and wholesalers from Romania. The participants also had the ocassion to meet with the Vice-President of Cluj County Council, Mr. Ioan Oleleu, General Director of Arovit - Mr. Bob Dorin George, Executive General Director of Expo Transilvania - Mr. Ioan Avram, with whom discussions took place concerning opportunities of investment in RM as well as mutually advantageous commercial partnerships.
Apart from the valuable contacts that the economic agents have obtained, the mission was an opportunity to find out what are the conditions and requirements of the super-market chains, wholesalers and processors from one side and the capacities of the economic agents from RM to align with the mentioned requirements concerning volumes, packaging, calibration etc.
The visit took place in the context of the Project Implementation of Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) financed by the Swedish Government through IFC.
