Mariana Rufa, Executive Director of EBA, delivered a presentation on the existing gaps encountered by businesses willing to implement innovative technologies. The speaker presented the general drawbacks of the system from legislative, financial, expertise and education capacity and institutional points of view. She has also mentioned about the international commitments that the RM has assumed under the Association Agreement, Chapter 9 on Intellectual Property Rights and the great effort that has been provided in this regard by AGEPI.
“The Business to science connection in Moldova is still weak though the first steps have been undertaken. It is important that science follows the business demand driven approach and focus on those very economic sectors that are emerging today in Moldova by underpinning them with innovative solutions. Unfortunately, a lot of Moldovan scientists are awarded as citizens of other countries, as Moldova cannot afford preserving them for developing a Moldovan asset in this regard and contribute to the development of Moldovan economy” explained Ms. Rufa. The conference took place in the Academy of Science of Moldova.
