The draft waste law debated within the EBA Green and Sustainable Economy Committee

The draft waste law debated within the EBA Green and Sustainable Economy Committee.

We appreciate the Government's efforts to regulate waste and promote a circular economy.

However, the version approved by the Government raises a number of uncertainties from the business environment. In particular, we are concerned with the following aspects:

The date of entry into force, a premature and unclear one, taking into account that in the EU it is implemented in only 14 countries, with the recommendation from the EU Council for implementation in 2029.

The lack of clarity about the responsibilities and obligations of the business environment.

Lack of predictability of costs.

Insufficient support for investment in collection and recycling infrastructure.

We will continue to engage with the authorities to clarify these issues and ensure balanced regulation that supports both environmental protection and economic development.

Alexandru Gincu, Public Affairs and Sustainability Manager Coca Cola HBC Moldova, President of the EBA Green and Sustainable Economy Committee, Eugen Cozmulici, Policy & Advocacy Manager, coordinator of the EBA Green and Sustainable Economy Committee.

This event was organized with the financial support of European Union and co-financed by Sweden through East Europe Foundation within the Project “Local civil society contributes to inclusive and sustainable economic development in Moldova”.
