Romanian International Energy Conference (RIEC) 2025 7th edition, organized by the Energy Employers' Federation (FPE) and held under the high patronage of the Ministry of Energy - Romania under the title The New Energy Fabric | Threads of Innovation & Stability.

The European Business Association Moldova, represented by Eugen Cozmulici, Policy and Advocacy Manager, participated in PANEL IV Energy Fabric: Cross-border Cooperation and Integration, together with distinguished speakers:
- István-Loránt Antal – Chairman of the Committee on Energy, Energy Infrastructure, and Mineral Resources of the Romanian Senate

This panel focused on the essential role of regional cooperation in strengthening energy security in Central and South-Eastern Europe, how interconnections, cross-border projects and energy policy alignment can reduce national vulnerabilities and strengthen the resilience of energy systems in the region, regional partnerships, the development of common infrastructure, and mechanisms through which countries can respond jointly to current and future energy challenges, including prospects for the coming period.

The European Business Association Moldova reiterated the key aspects for ensuring energy security and integration into the European energy market:

  • the importance of diversifying gas and energy supply sources
  • the need to implement cross-border projects
  • accelerating the Moldova–Romania interconnectors: Bălți–Suceava and Strășeni-Gutinaș
  • modernization of transport networks
  • increasing electricity import and export capacity
  • development of energy storage capacities
  • cybersecurity.

The goal is to transform the Republic of Moldova into a regional energy hub that is interconnected and fully integrated into the European market, capable of benefiting from security, competitive prices, and massive investments in clean energy.

P.S: Interconnections, cross-border projects, and the alignment of energy policies can reduce national vulnerabilities and strengthen the resilience of energy systems in the region.

We would like to thank the Romanian Energy Employers' Federation, Mr. Daniel Apostol, General Director, for the invitation to these vital debates for the countries in the region, and we appreciate the team's efforts in organizing this event.

We remain open to making the necessary efforts towards the common goal of cross-border integration.
