Over the last 4 years EBA has constantly tried to ensure a higher level of transparency in the sector of import of meat into the RM by constant interventions like developing and presenting Position Papers to the relevant authorities and providing recommendations on improving the import quota distribution mechanism. Following the meeting with EBA members and Mr. Vadim Brinzan, Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, this topic was identified as one of the priority and has been addressed in additionally addressed in a separate follow-up meeting attended by various stakeholders like representatives of the industry, Ministry of Agriculture, EU DElegation within the Ministry, which took place on July 31st.
The issues raised were related to the mis-functioning of the quota distribution mechanism managed by Customs and Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure. EBA jointly with other Business Support Associations, meat producers and processors have strongly recommended Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure to support production and processing industry in Moldova including their development toward export to the EU market. EBA has also developed draft legal proposals to be consulted additionally with meat producers and other public authorities.
As a result, Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure expressed will and support in revising the necessary legislation in order to ensure more transparency in the context to the import of meat into the RM.
