On 17th October 2017, EBA participated at the meeting organized by National Food safety Agency (ANSA) to discuss about the situation in production/processing and trading of meat and meat products. The meeting has been attended by representatives of meat producers and those of the meat processing sector. The main issue concerned the current deficit of meat raw material on the market and the increase of meat imported volumes from the EU that exceed the value of established import quotas for 2017.
EBA emphasized that the Government shall come with clear and timely measures in order to ensure the stability on the market and if necessary, to adjust the value of meat import quotas from EU, either by notifying the Association Committee in Trade through the mechanism provided by the EU-Moldova Association Agreement, or by amending the national legal framework.
