On February 8th 2016 EBA and its members have met with Mr. Petras AUSTREVICIUS, Special Rapporteur of the European Parliament for the Implementation of the EU – Republic of Moldova Association Agreement.
Mr. Petras Austrevicius briefly presented the assignment to be completed under the given visit, namely that a special report shall be developed on the implementation of the Association Agreement and presented to the European Parliament in this regard. By visiting the EBA Moldova, the European official was keen to find out issues faced by businesses under the agreement implementation.
EBA members had the occasion to describe the key issues and present some concrete examples of the problems the business environment is facing as a whole. Primarily the discussion was focused on the deficiency of the justice system and public institutions. In this regard some concrete sectors have been nominated such as banking system, energy sector, insurance, meat processing and meat imports, telecommunications, microfinancing and others.
In this regard EBA will develop an official letter, listing the priority issues related to DCFTA implementation, to be addressed to all the international institutions accredited in Moldova as well as a copy of this letter shall be addressed to the European Parliament.
