On behalf of the European Business Association (EBA), Mr. Arne van Aalst, General Manager of a leading Dutch cooperative for tomatoes and other vegetables “Prominent” has visited Moldova to advise Moldovan cooperatives on their future strategic development towards exports to the European Union of fruits and vegetables.
The activities of Mr. van Aalst during the mission in Moldova has included a training seminar as well as a field visit to meet cooperatives on their working spot. The topic of the Seminar was “Agro Cooperative Management in the Netherlands. Structure, relations with members”. During the seminar were present around 40 representatives of cooperatives. At the field visit Mr.Van Aalst highlighted the need of getting organised basic infrastructure and marketing measures in course of having the minimum standard for exports. He further confirmed that for small and medium sized companies it is essential to work in cooperatives in order to meet professional standards, which allows exporting fruits and vegetables from Moldova.
The mission of Mr. Van Aalst is supported as part of MAC-P project, which is implemented by UCIMPA. The project is implemented by the World Bank (International Association for Development), Swedish Government and Global Facility for Environment.
