Economic and Trade relations between EU and Moldova

On April 25th 2012 EU Delegation in the Republic of Moldova and Government of the Republic of Moldova in Partnership with European Business Association of Moldova hosted an event on Trade and Economic relations between EU and Moldova. The event was attended by Moldovan, Transnistrian and European companies who were told about  the status of EU- Moldova economic relations and the Association Agreement negotiations, including DCFTA as its component part.

The event was opened by Mrs. Silvia Radu, President of Gas Natural Fenosa, President of EBA, Mr. Vlad Filat, Prime Minister of the RM and Mr. Dirk Schuebel, Head of EU Delegation in the RM, all of them reiterating the commitment and implications of the RM in the EU Integration process.

HE Mr. Vlad Filat expressed high appreciation for organizing such an event due to the relevance and importance of DCFTA in the Government Agenda. The relationships between RM and EU have to be approached in a multidimensional manner, where the economic component is a priority one. The Moldovan Premier mentioned about the launching of negotiations on DCFTA , specifying that the signing of the Agreement is projected for 2013.

HE Mr. Dirk Schuebel, Head of EU Delegation in Moldova said that starting with 2009 the trade flow between  the RM and EU increased reaching 2,7 Bln Euro in 2011. The Ambassador promised that EU shall support the European Integration aspiration of the RM and assist the country in the reform implementation for aligning the country to the EU values.

Silvia Radu, President of Gas Natural Fenosa, President of EBA mentioned that the European Integration is a huge opportunity for the Moldovan Business Community and the European Business Association of Moldova is here to support the foreign investors and local businesses in aligning their business management standards to EU Aquis.

The forum gave the opportunity to local, Transnistrian and foreign  businesses address their questions to the representatives of the Government, thus getting indication on the changes and reforms under implementation in the context of EU integration process.
