EBA Moldova supports climate and environment-friendly best practices in agriculture as part of the PROGRESS Project
Recently, EBA, together with the Project Consortium Partners, organized a practical online event under the framework of the regional project “Promoting Green Deal Readiness in the Eastern Partnership Countries” (PROGRESS)
The objective of the event was to share best practices among EaP countries on climate adaptation and resilience in agriculture. Throughout the project, climate-smart, sustainable, and environmentally friendly practices will be identified and demonstrated
Agriculture is among the sectors most at risk from climate change, with impacts already visible worldwide: rising temperatures, droughts, floods, and extreme weather events threaten food systems and livelihoods.
This makes resilience and adaptation a key priority for investments and policy action.
The event highlighted international best practices, especially from the EU, supporting farmers, agribusinesses, and service providers in identifying practical solutions tailored to their needs.
The event was launched by:
- Mrs. Léa Bigot – German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN)
- Mrs. Lisa Neumann – Federal Ministry for Agriculture, Food and Regional Identity (BMLEH)
- Mr. André Pilling – Eco Viva GmbH
They emphasized the importance of public policies and EU initiatives in promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
Mr. Pilling also shared practical examples in soil management, irrigation, digital solutions, and the role of academia in supporting agro-producers.
The event provided a platform for exchanging expertise among practitioners from Moldova, Germany, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, bringing together over 140 participants.
The session was moderated by Mrs. Mariana Rufa, EBA CEO and PROGRESS Project Partner.
PROGRESS is implemented under the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Government, with contributions from BMUKN, the Federal Foreign Office (AA), and partners including GIZ, OECD, REC, EBA Moldova, and IEF
